Forest paths, moss paths and waters. The origin of the star forest is swamp. The area has raised paths constructed in an intricate star pattern. This used to be a hunting area.

Nice open spot to take a break. There is a picnic bench and for dogs this is a welcome drinking spot and swimming spot to cool down on hot days. A cycle path runs along the water. This is especially popular with day cyclists on nice weekend days.

Great walk over the bridge with a view of the Dakhorst nature reserve and water reservoir.

The middle section of the current house dates from 1662. In the 19th and early 20th century it was expanded with a total of four towers. The house is the core of an intact country estate with two farm buildings, a large park, a workshop, a vegetable garden and an orangery. The character of the Nijenhuis estate is park-like: romantic walking paths along the winding Molenbeek, monumental groups of trees and picturesque vistas define the image. Nijenhuis Castle used to be a manor, a fortified castle. Het Nijenhuis was first mentioned around 1380. The different parts of the impressive structure date from different times. For example, the country house, which forms the core of the castle, dates from 1662, the towers at the front from 1791-1794 and the wings at the rear from 1914-1915.

Many paths wind through the estate. Small water features again and again. Then straight lanes again.
