Simply beautiful to look at. The history of the building goes back around 700 years, as the agricultural estate of the Bishop of Utrecht. It has belonged to the Edwina Foundation since 1956 and can be explored on group tours during the summer months.

Complex If you want to enter the castle, you must first go through the lower castle gate, which dates back to the 13th century. There you can see pagan and Christian symbols carved into the sandstone on the left and right, such as sun wheels, swords, crosses, witches' feet, or even the Christ monogram IHS. There is now a café in the lower castle gate. Then you come to the upper castle gate on the left; the Princess's Garden - or herb garden - on the right is closed off by a gate and is inaccessible to visitors. The castle gate, which has already turned dark over the centuries, was designed in the 17th century by the Dutch architect Philipp Vingboom (1614-1679) in a rusticated ashlar.
