Rest area and recreation

The Scandinavian Village is a wonderful place for a lunch break, coffee stop or an extensive dinner. From the terrace and inside the restaurant you have a beautiful view of the Paterswoldse Meer. The Scandinavian Village consists of the Elanderhûs restaurant and several wooden log cabins where you can spend the night, all in Scandinavian style.

There is a European nest in the ridge of the roof hornet. The European hornet is by far the largest wasp in the Netherlands and therefore an impressive appearance. This species is not difficult and never comes close to our sweet tooth. In the vicinity of the nest they may feel threatened and attack, but otherwise never. This beautiful insect is unfortunately often confused with its (smaller) cousin: the invasive Asian hornet, which is seen as a threat to bees.

The bird hide located on the Polderpad provides a panoramic view of the Kropswolderbuitenpolder. A beautiful place to watch birds and enjoy nature.

There is a plank path close to this covered bird hide. Both are fun to visit for young and old. There is also an observation tower in the area.
