Although there are thousands of lakes in this area, there are few places where you can get to a lake by public transport, like here.

A few hundred meters from the village of Pérouges, let yourself descend to the hawthorn pond. It is a landscaped and well maintained place that is very pleasant and relaxing.

The Dombes ponds are part of the large collection ponds of the Dombes departmental reserve. There are more than 1,000 of them.

Aubepin Lake is a water reserve created artificially in 2005 by the municipality of Meximieux. This one-hectare body of water was built on an old canal which feeds the Moulin Favre, whose wheel you can see still in action at the end of the body of water. This green place will be ideal for a stroll and the signs that line its outline will allow you to learn a little more about the surrounding fauna and flora.

A nice place to take a break and enjoy the view of the pond.

Here you can watch the birds brooding from the observation platform or when they are passing through.    At the same time, this and the surrounding lakes also serve as a source of food for the numerous waterfowl of the Vogelparadies.

From here you have an excellent view of the lake and the bird breeding areas.
