Each of these crosses, which the traveler often encounters in the fields or, as here, on the mountaintops—in this case combined with a beautiful view of the lake and the opposite shore—is a sign commemorating the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. “Here on earth, His memory exists, but in the Kingdom of Heaven is His presence: this presence is the joy of those who have already attained salvation. The cycle path around the lake is very busy, so plan to leave early!

A lovely, quiet, grassy beach by the lake, with steps for swimming and tall trees for shade. Bicycles can be parked at the beach entrance, along the path.

Wonderful view of the lake, nestled at the foot of the Dent du Chat. From the other side of the Crêt de l'Aigle you can see Mont Blanc.

The perfect place to take a short break between a few km of cycling.

You pass by when you drive around the lake. There are several places like this! But go in the morning! In the afternoon it is often crowded.

Magnificent lake but watch out for people in high season!

Mostly a cycle highway which is good, but beware a lovely hot day in French holidays - it’s pretty busy. There are, however, points along the route where you could just park your bike and pop in for a swim (best on the quieter side of the lake) and plenty of opportunity. Lovely easy ride. Probably not for the speed merchant (too many doodlers get in the way).
