The promenade is located on l'Estany Gran, also known as Lago Esperanza or Es Lac Gran. The shallow lake was originally a separate inlet near the Parc natural de s'Albufera de Mallorca, to which it was still connected via canals, is now integrated into the urban area of Alcúdia and is largely surrounded by hotels and holiday resorts.

Entrance to a great national park. We have seen osprey, marsh harrier, kestrel, black-winged stilt and avocet with young, little ringed plover, common tern and many other species.
