Tabernas is a town in the Los Filabres - Tabernas region, in the province of Almería. It is located next to the Tabernas Desert Natural Park, a unique desert area in Europe. Tabernas already had an Almohad castle in the 10th century, given its location on the communication route between Almería and the eastern Iberian Peninsula.
