The Cueva de San Martín is on the clayey cliff that rises to the east of Villamoros de las Regueras, known as a 'rupestrian' church, a building documented at least since the 10th century (990). There are indications that it could be a property royal linked to the kings Sancho I and Vermudo II, related to the repopulation process of the Torío valley, full of agricultural exploitations and peasants linked to the church of San Martín.
