A must-see! The sunken lane leading to the panoramic viewpoint at the beginning of the Landauer Weg trail offers a breathtaking panorama. Afterwards, a stop at the Herxemer Ranch is highly recommended.

Georg Franz Trauth III and his wife Anna Maria Römer had the chapel built in 1891 for 1000 gold marks, as the farmer Trauth's arm, which had been shattered in an accident, unexpectedly healed. The Madonna was restored by church painter Otto Schultz in 1967. The chapel underwent its last thorough renovation in 1993/94. Furnishings: Altar table, above which hangs a painting of the wooden sculpture "Our Lady of Perpetual Help," dating from 1575 and stolen in 1973.

The Jewish cemetery in Herxheim was established around 1879 and last used in 1936. Today it is incorporated into a park, and a memorial stone commemorates the former cemetery.

Easy to drive Please watch out for mosquitoes

A relatively easy tour, in my opinion, with no climbs and very good road conditions. However, mosquito repellent is definitely needed in summer. The towpath from the brickworks in Sonderhein to the Rhine bridge in Germersheim is not without its dangers, as the bike path runs directly along the Rhine and is not secured to the Rhine.

Good driving, with occasional oncoming traffic and sometimes loud traffic alongside, but a fast connection. Only the semicircular detours around intersections are a bit annoying when people occasionally override the right-of-way. I wish some four-wheelers would show a little more consideration.

KULTURGEMEINDE HÖRDT e.V. : Last year we made our pastor Hermann-Josef Mohr an honorary citizen of Hördt. As part of the planning for these celebrations, pastor Mohr expressed the wish to give the community something permanent and lasting as a gift on the occasion of his appointment => a great thing, we think. The choice fell on the statue or sculpture of St. George, which is to be erected at the roundabout to Rülzheim or Kuhardt and is to be designed and made by the Hördt artist Andreas Helmling. For his appointment, pastor Mohr then received many donations to realize his project. Unfortunately, the amount accumulated is not enough to realize the total costs. During one of the last board meetings of the cultural community, we discussed various options for realizing the project and came across the crowdfunding initiative of the VR Bank Südpfalz.
