About 4 km from the town of Picón, towards a path that goes off to the right, we take it and a little further on, past the forestry house, we reach this swamp, where you can go for walks, fishing... Beautiful Monte area.

Alcolea de Calatrava is located in the central part of the historic Campo de Calatrava, between the Alcudia Valley and the Montes de Toledo. Mainly, what we will find in its 71 km2 area are several small mountain ranges full of craters and volcanic lagoons that give it a special geomorphological and landscape appeal. The area that includes this area, and the neighbouring Picón, is perhaps the one where the most remains of Castillejos are preserved, probably due to its proximity to the permanent waters of the Guadiana River.

It is located between the towns of Picón and Porzuna. There is a circular route that starts from Picón along the Fuente Agria path and connects with the Cañada Real Riojana or Galiana. About eight kilometres from Picón, it departs from the Cañada to continue along the La Raña de Cantoblanco path, next to the Los Pilones stream and parallel to the Naves de los Medranos. Then, it crosses the N-412 road to reach the Fuente del Ciervo Dam. From here, going around the dam, a climb begins that runs through the interior of the mountain range in a surprising place. The length of the circular route that starts from Picón and goes around the Fuente del Ciervo Dam is approximately 8 kilometres. 🚶‍♂️🌲

The town was traditionally supplied from the Fuente del Ciervo reservoir, located 5 km from the town. Currently, Picón is supplied from the Pantano de Gasset.
