The Miralrio lagoon, like most wetlands in Spain, suffers from the insistent drought that plagues the peninsula. Even so, it concentrates many animal and plant species.

The Miralrío lagoon in the Southeast Regional Park, is like all those in this park, the result of flooding and recovery of sand mining operations.
