The new dam is no longer accessible, which makes it that the route can no longer be done as described. Hiking down to the lake however gives many nice views however.

Due to the proximity of the dam to the city of Córdoba, its main function is supply. It was built in 1911 at the source of the Guadalmellato river, which flows into the Guadalquivir after more than 110 kilometers of travel.

The old La Breña dam built between 1931 and 1935 is currently submerged since its reservoir capacity was insufficient to store the abundant contributions from the Guadiato basin, which is why the reservoir was expanded by building La Breña. II. The La Breña I dam was located 120 m upstream of La Breña II.

Beautiful environment accessible by road from Ovejo and Adamuz and by road from Alcolea.

Beautiful reservoir accessible by road CH-1, ascending from the San Rafael De Navallana Reservoir. It can also be accessed from Ovejo or from Adamuz by the GR 48 in MTB or Gravel

Near Alcolea is a second reservoir that collects water from the Guadalmellato reservoir. You can access the water and cool off from the bridge that we find as soon as we arrive.
