Great tour, beautiful surroundings, but a reasonable level of fitness is required due to the elevation gain. We recommend doing the tour in reverse because the return path is somewhat slippery and steep.

Can imagine this used to be a really nice natural swimming place. Now it feels more like a theme park including big parking spaces surrounding it full of cars and busses

Anticlockwise tour resulting in more difficult descent of the head of the vally. Possibly safer if undertaken clockwise, Ascent or descent in wet weather would be potentially dangerous due to wet rock and steep slippery mud sections.

The visit consists of a tour of a 1.5 km long circuit along the course of the Algar River (“cave” in Arabic) to see the landscape resulting from the karstic modeling of the limestone rock: the spectacular waterfalls; the many springs that gush out of the rock; the "tolls" (pools of water) where you can take refreshing baths in pure and crystalline waters, formerly considered a "source of health"; the old dam, the imposing canal and the hundred-year-old ditches still in use today.
