It was built in the 12th century by the Muslims who inhabited the region. Its original purpose was to retain the waters of the ravine of the same name and then use them to irrigate the fields downstream. This route is ideal for hiking lovers and offers a variety of landscapes and experiences. I hope you enjoy exploring the Ajuez Reservoir and its surroundings! 🌿🏞️

Ernbalse de Ajuez Unfortunately, the reservoir is almost dry and things are slowly getting tight for the fish and turtles. The Chóvar Reservoir, as it is also called, is part of an ancient local irrigation system built to retain the rushing water from the eponymous gorge. The place name is derived from Arabic, the meaning of which means “common pastureland” and indicates the importance of agriculture and livestock breeding in the region. Due to its capacity of 30,000 m³ and the lack of water sources in the nature park, it is of great value for the fauna. It is currently included in the catalog of wetlands of the Valencian Community

There are a few very tough singletracks, very technical, but even doing patabikes they are fun, but even when walking, be careful!

The María Cristina reservoir is located in the municipality of Alcora, in the province of Castellón, Spain. The works began in 1901 and ended in 1925 after several problems during its construction. It is located in the bed of the Rambla de la Viuda, on an area of 265 hectares and with a maximum capacity of 19.59 hm³. The dam is of the gravity arch type built with concrete, with a height of 59 meters and a crest length of 318 m. It has a free sheet spillway with a capacity of 597 m³/s. It is used to recharge the aquifers of the Plana Alta and Plana Baixa regions, it has a capacity of 18.4 hm³. This dam has overflowed three times due to strong flooding due to cold drops. In 1920 (during construction), 1962 and 2000, the latter caused a hole with a large leak rate in the concrete structure of the dam, and set off all the alarms. The dam belongs to the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation.

A very quiet and picturesque place a few kilometers from the city of Onda. You can go around it on secondary roads in good condition and at all times you will have very nice views of the reservoir. It also allows you to visit the town of RIbesables.

Leaving Benitandús, on the right bank of the River Veo, there is a 1 km path that leads to the head of the reservoir and the starting point of a via ferrata. Good views of the Orguens on the opposite bank.
