The Canaleja Alta Shelter is located in the recreational area of the same name, located at the head of the Canaleja ravine. This refuge is on the road that leads to the Prados del Rey and the Calares. The area is cool, with dense vegetation and numerous water currents. The recreational area has tables and barbecues under the trees, and the shelter itself is a two-story rectangular building. This controlled camping area is located in the municipality of Charches. It has picnic areas, sinks and a fountain. The interior of the shelter is aimed at providing shelter in case of inclement weather; It has a couple of bathrooms and a fireplace. To camp, it is necessary to request an authorization from the Territorial Delegation of Sustainable Development of Granada.

There is running water, which although labelled non potable I found quite good. You might want to filter to be safe. There are benches and fireplaces, although fires aren't allowed July to December. Camping is not allowed, and when I passed by in October the refugio was locked.
