Just where the Vigda meets the Trondheimsfjord lies a little picnic area with benches offering sweeping views across the water. Trondheimsfjord stretches about 130 km (80 mi) inland, making it Norway’s third-longest fjord.

Skjellbreia, (from the Old Norse "Skjaldbreið") means "broad as a shield." It is the largest lake in Bymarka, a popular recreation area in Trondheim, Norway. The lake is located in the upper part of the Leirsjø watershed.

Lianvatnet is on the very eastern fringes of Bymarka, not too far from the city. Its grassy surroundings are great for a picnic, while the lake is a popular fishing spot, though you'll need a license. A loop of the lake takes around 40 minutes.

Skjellbreia is a lake in the Bymarka region to the west of Trondheim. The lake makes for a lovely hike in summer and you can enjoy the facilities at the Grønlia hut to its north.
