Fatlandsvatnet is a small lake not famous as a major natural wonder but primarily known locally for its role as a key geographic feature and starting point along the popular hiking trail to the summit of Sydnessåta. The lake itself provides a scenic spot and parking area for hikers who are setting out to explore the surrounding forested hills and gain views over the local fjords.

In Sandvik you can access this secondary road leading to a swimming spot, to fully enjoy Norway's coast and sea.

Thanks to OpenStreetMap, the forest path now also exists in Komoot!

The hiking map 'Vandering Tysnes' with some marked hikes is available in local shops for around €5.

Even if the path does not exist on the Komoot map, you can trust the signpost to Myklestad despite the somewhat overgrown path and you will be rewarded with a rest area above the lake in the forest.

The best way to climb Bremstølsvatnet is along the trail from the waterworks and then south of the river. The trail is beautiful and of outstanding quality.

Here it goes through the untouched nature of Norway, an absolute dream. And the view of the beautiful lake is the crowning glory.
