Karst formation complex formed by the erosive action of an underground watercourse discovered in 1934 by Francesco Saverio Majellaro from Biseglia. Evidence of human presence has been found there from the Middle Paleolithic to the Bronze Age. In 1955, a femur of the Neanderthal species was found as well as numerous animal remains, primitive stone tools and Neolithic paintings. Having remained in a complete state of abandonment and neglect, the caves have been revamped by the Scout Group of Bisceglie since 1975 and made accessible to the public since 1990 with the approval and collaboration of the Municipality of Bisceglie and the Archaeological Superintendence of Puglia. In 1997 the University of Siena was also involved in several excavation campaigns which brought to light a Neolithic mat.

the entrance to the small cave is to the right of the cross, you have to cross the stream by the small bridge further south I recommend applying mosquito repellent

The Pulo di Molfetta is a characteristic karst collapse sinkhole located about 1.5 km from the center of the city of Molfetta, in a south-west direction, created by the collapse of the vault and dividing walls of one or more caves and tunnels formed starting from distant geological times and forming part of a complex karst system consisting of the confluence and intersection of several karst wells which originated precisely in that place from a series of geological coincidences.

The building was discovered by the archaeologists Francesco Samarelli and Angelo Mosso on August 6, 1909, in the locality of "la Chianca" in the territory of Bisceglie, in an area a few kilometers away from the Pulo di Molfetta, very close to a long and deep valley called "lama di Santa Croce ", full of caves that were the seat of human frequentation in several phases. The first excavations were conducted by the discoverers at the time of the discovery and were continued by the archaeologist Michele Gervasio in the last months of 1910 [2]. When the dolmen was discovered the local farmers had already removed everything before the excavations, even if some traces of the piles of stones and dirt that covered the building were evident to the eyes of the archaeologists.

The cave is located along the stream "Le Lame". It includes a Neolithic deposit on the outside.
