The Castle of San Fili, also known as the casino of San Fili, is located in Stignano, Calabria. Built at the beginning of the 18th century by the Lamberti family, the baroque work, designed by Vincenzo Lamberti, reflects elements of military architecture. The building, with a triangular layout and towers at the corners, was originally built for representation and observation of the surrounding area, especially towards the sea. Today, it is under the protection of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage.

From the castle you have a beautiful view, both towards Stilo and towards Bivongi. The ascent to the castle is quite sweaty in warm weather 😅.

However, if you are lucky, you can meet a kind gentleman who lives in the house adjacent to the medieval fortress who is happy to welcome you to show you the garden that once belonged to the castle and which, after careful restoration work, is now part of his home. . From here you can see the most beautiful facade of the castle and a breathtaking view, which sweeps from the hills to the sea.
