From here you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the island; below, the Aragonese Castle, Michelangelo's or Guevara's Tower, the rocks of Sant'Anna, the bay of Cartaromana, and on the left, in the background, the Gulf of Gaeta, in the center the enchanting Gulf of Naples and the Vesuvius and in the middle the islands of Procida and Vivara.

Ischia Ponte, the first inhabited center on the island, has also been known as the Borgo di Celsa of the City of Ischia since the end of the 1300s thanks to the mulberry plants that covered it, maintaining at the same time the charm and characteristics of the typical Mediterranean village of fishermen. The center lived practically in the shadow of the Aragonese Castle, following in every way periods of maximum expansion and those of decline. At least until the 18th century when, with the cessation of pirate incursions, the Aragonese Castle ceased its function as a place of shelter, bringing life back to the mainland too. For the entire century the city of Ischia remained the richest and most populous on the island and its destiny was increasingly detached from the Castle which in the meantime began its period of decline, being abandoned by families who preferred to move to the mainland. The port of Ischia Ponte also remained the favorite of the islanders until the Bourbon port was opened. Patrician palaces and fishermen's houses have always alternated over the centuries in Ischia Ponte and there are many historic buildings that still bear witness to their ancient splendor.

The sovereign had a wooden bridge built that connected the islet to the main island (which would later be replaced by a stone one), while until the mid-fifteenth century the only means of access to the castle consisted of an external staircase some ruins of which can still be glimpsed from the sea, on the side facing the island of Vivara.
