Like a pearl in a shell, protected by its small archipelago, its rocky and wooded morphology, and the fortresses overlooking the sea that mark its borders, this strip of land allows itself to be discovered little by little by those who wish to appreciate it in all its entirety, and it is not surprising that "singers of emotions" of the caliber of Dante, Petrarca, Shelley, and Byron have often praised its landscapes. As if out of extreme gratitude, it is from them, from these masters of verse and prose, that the Gulf took its name, and from east to west we find, in order, all its characteristic seaside villages: Tellaro, Fiascherino, Lerici, Venere Azzurra, San Terenzo, Muggiano, Fossamastra, La Spezia, Marola, Cadimare, Fezzano, Le Grazie, and Portovenere with the islands of Palmaria, Tino, and Tinetto opposite.

If you don't feel like climbing the mountain, you can also take a free elevator from the old town.

Inside the castle and to reach the viewing terrace, you have to climb very steep steps. Be careful on rainy days, as they can get very slippery!
