Attention! The road from Dogna is closed from August 25th to October 31st. Today, our alternative was to drive along the other side of the river to Provagna, after having driven to the closure.

The Giaron de la Fopa is a gigantic scree flow that extends from the imposing Spiz di Mezzodì, representing one of the largest and most majestic scree slopes in the entire Dolomite range. The trail winds along this impressive slope, offering a unique and evocative panorama, characterized by a wild and grandiose environment that will leave you breathless. A unique experience for mountain lovers and high-altitude trekking enthusiasts.

Challenging trail, but very beautiful. Personally I would recommend doing it by going up.

One of the most impressive screes of the Dolomites, which extends over a thousand meters of altitude, formed by the accumulation of debris formed by the natural disintegration of the rocks The Giaron de la Fopa is sadly famous for having fueled the solid transport of the Pramper torrent, in a wave of water, earth and stones, which devastated the town of Forno di Zoldo in the flood of 1966

Stunning trail in the middle of the woods with arrival at Malga Federa. In winter and with a lot of snow crampons are absolutely necessary, many sections can be icy; if there is deep snow the trail could be hidden but there are several signs on the trees. In these conditions a bit of experience and a lot of caution are necessary, some short passages a bit exposed and an easy section equipped.

In November 2024 the road is still barred and officially closed. Somebody removed the barrier though and it's ridable. It's in good shape except for a stretch of 50m with massive rockfall. Quite scary, but one can ride through it.
