The Pian della Capanna refuge is open most of the year, especially from spring to autumn. It remains a point of reference for those who undertake the path of Saint Francis and for this purpose it offers a bivouac that is always open next to the structure.

I have also attached a photo of the Spinella refuge (if it is needed by groups, it can be booked for camping or multi-day holidays at the Germagnano farm)

La Spinella is a large stone structure, located at the foot of Alpe della Luna with a spectacular view of the Valtiberina and Lake Montedoglio. Next to the refuge there is a metal sculpture that you can see in the photo

dirt road which is taken either from Montevicchi, from the Montagna or Germagnano hamlet, it is best traveled with an off-road vehicle and ends at the Via Maggio pass just below the word pozzolo, then it becomes asphalted. in the middle there are many paths and other roads that also lead to Aboca, beautiful and cool on the hottest days

The Paolo Massi bivouac is a wooden construction located on the Alpe della Luna, just below the summit of Monte dei Frati (1453 metres), along path 00 which runs along the entire Apennine ridge. The bivouac was named after Paolo Massi, one of the founding members of the Sansepolcro section of the Italian Alpine Club, who passed away prematurely.

Pilgrims stop on the Via del Nord (St Francis Way) on the stage from La Verna to Pieve Santo Stefano.

Pian della Capanna is a fantastic stopping place. Genuine local products. It is worth making a stop before continuing to the Monti della Luna
