Domus de Janas means "houses of the fairies" in English. These are Sardinian rock tombs. More info's were summarized in detail at Wiki. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domus_de_Janas I accidentally came across this excavation site online because I didn't want to explore an area overrun with tourists. A visit is worthwhile, especially with children. 🙂

Note opening hours. The cave can only be visited as part of a guided tour. Duration 1 to 1.5 hours. The cave is closed from November 1st until spring because then it serves as a winter quarters for bats. In October, for example, there were only 2 guided tours a day at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

The red rock is beautifully hollowed out at this point. Similar to the Tafoni formations, the rock winds into the most beautiful shapes. The shadow refreshes a little from the blazing heat that builds up on the eaves in the evening, which drops steeply just before the cave and via which this place can be reached in an adventurous way.

This spectacular stalactite cave can only be visited with a guide. Warm clothes are recommended as there are only 10 ° C in the cave.
