Il Castello di Barengo는 마을 뒤편 언덕의 높은 지대에 위치해 있으며, 원래 Via Francigena와 Sesia 강 도하 지점을 연결하던 도로를 따라 주변 평야보다 높은 곳에 자리 잡고 있습니다. 원래 15세기 건축물은 수세기에 걸쳐 수많은 변경과 개조를 거쳤으며 19세기 초에는 이미 부분적으로 파손되었습니다. 1849년에는 요새가 복원되어 원래 구조가 변경되었습니다. 제1차 세계 대전 후 소유권은 가우덴치오 토르니엘리 디 보르고라베차로 백작에게 넘어갔고, 그는 건축가 카를로 니그라에게 중세 시대의 스타일 규칙에 따라 단지를 재건하도록 의뢰했습니다. 이후 현재 소유주인 보롤리 가문이 추가 복원 작업을 수행했습니다. 재건축에도 불구하고 흉벽 벽, 기초, 일부 출입구 등 원래 건축물의 흔적이 많이 남아 있습니다.

At the top of Mount San Lorenzo this fortress was built in 1187 by decision of the Municipality of Vercelli in agreement with Bishop Alberto, owner of the territory. The castle was built in about three years, and the municipal statutes required that it be inhabited by the castellan with the whole family and with a small permanent garrison.

The Castle of San Lorenzo owes its name to the church of San Lorenzo which was located inside the walls of the Castle. The castle is 504 m above sea level, overlooking the valley where the Sesia flows and you can enjoy an exceptional 360 degree view.

Anyone traveling along the road from Romagnano to Prato Sesia cannot fail to notice the remaining tower of the Sopramonte castle. It is easily reachable with a path and a road that leads to the nearby church

When you arrive in Carpignano Sesia you almost don't realize that there is a hidden medieval heart. Ask the inhabitants to tell you how to reach the "Castle", as the Carpignanese call it. What you will see are walls built with river stones laid out in a herringbone pattern. They are houses that also date back to the 15th century. Even if some were then plastered, losing their characteristic herringbone pattern.

The castle of Barengo stands on the hill behind the town of Barengo, in an elevated position over the surrounding plain, along the road that originally connected the Via Francigena with the fords on the Sesia river.

Fortification present in the municipality of the same name, built starting from 1170 by Alberto di Rovasenda. At first it performed exclusively military functions and then became an economic and agricultural center in the 18th century.
