Il Castello di Barengo는 마을 뒤편 언덕의 높은 지대에 위치해 있으며, 원래 Via Francigena와 Sesia 강 도하 지점을 연결하던 도로를 따라 주변 평야보다 높은 곳에 자리 잡고 있습니다. 원래 15세기 건축물은 수세기에 걸쳐 수많은 변경과 개조를 거쳤으며 19세기 초에는 이미 부분적으로 파손되었습니다. 1849년에는 요새가 복원되어 원래 구조가 변경되었습니다. 제1차 세계 대전 후 소유권은 가우덴치오 토르니엘리 디 보르고라베차로 백작에게 넘어갔고, 그는 건축가 카를로 니그라에게 중세 시대의 스타일 규칙에 따라 단지를 재건하도록 의뢰했습니다. 이후 현재 소유주인 보롤리 가문이 추가 복원 작업을 수행했습니다. 재건축에도 불구하고 흉벽 벽, 기초, 일부 출입구 등 원래 건축물의 흔적이 많이 남아 있습니다.

The Visconti-Sforza Castle of Novara is a castle located in the south-western border of the old center of Novara. It was erected on the former corner of the Roman and Middle Age walls that surrounded the city.
