Castello Consortile di Buronzo is a rare example of a complex of fortified houses and towers that stands in the heart of the Baraggia.

The pro castle was part of the defensive complex built during the 12th century by the counts of Biandrate.

For reasons of defense of men and products, the parish territory therefore saw the flourishing of castles and fortifications, a strong point of a civil and social nature, where the effective exercise of local power took place. Here the network of fortifications of the parish territory was organized by the Counts of Biandrate for strategic reasons and for better control over the territory, crops, products and men.

It was also an artery of the "via Francisca" (what we would call today "Francigena") which, after skirting the Barengo hill, reached Proh, and then continued towards Novara or towards Biandrate and Vercelli.

Proh was "caput plebs" until 1132, the year in which the transfer to Camodeia, today's Castellazzo Novarese, took place. With a certain probability the relevant territories coincided with the borders of the latter: Camodeia, Briona, Orre, Barengo, Sillavengo, Mandello Vitta, Proh and Agnellengo. The parish church was located in a strategic position and was crossed by the "biandrina road", which allowed internal communication within the possessions of the Counts of Biandrate
