The castle is private but open and therefore open to visitors. It's not exactly well-maintained, but it certainly has its charm.

Unfortunately it was closed due to construction work when I was there. No idea if that will change

The ducal palace of Laurino is a historic building in the center of the town, which was originally a Lombard castle from the 11th century. Today only a few ruins of the walls and towers remain of the castle, and the building rebuilt in the following centuries is used as the seat of the Municipality.

Novi Velia is located along the provincial road that connects Vallo della Lucania to Monte Gelbison. For this reason it is the starting point for many excursions on foot and by bicycle. The castle of Novi Velia stands on top of the hill giving the possibility to admire a 360 degree panorama.

Laurino is a small Cilento village in the province of Salerno. There are many places of interest that you can visit, the ducal palace, the remains of the medieval castle, the convent of Sant'Antonio da Padova, and many others.

Castelnuovo Cilento is a small medieval village of Cilento of almost 3,000 souls. The village, as mentioned, is located on top of a hill about 280 meters above sea level. The Municipality is located in a strategic position, between the municipalities of Vallo Della Lucania, Ascea, Casal Velino, Ceraso and Salento, with a suggestive view over the Cilento coast.
