Gordone Riviera actually consists of a larger area with various clusters of houses. At this point, you'll find the small but charming village center, right in front of the castle entrance. The village offers many small restaurants and is well worth a visit.

Fairly quiet ride, beautiful village of Bione and the passage into Vallio, a fixed stop at Vecchia who are always super welcoming to cyclists, always offer you excellent snacks and always have first aid equipment available for those who need it . The climb from Casto to Bione is very beautiful and to Sabbio la Rocca it is always evocative,

The first settlement in this area has been documented since the Chalcolithic era through pile dwellings, and numerous finds of rock carvings have been preserved from the Bronze Age. Towards the end of the 1st century B.C. In the 4th century BC, Torri (then “Tulles”) became part of the Roman Empire. This is confirmed by excavation finds of coins from the imperial period and many still existing district names such as Le Sorti (Sortes) and Il Salto (Saltus). After its collapse, various Germanic peoples spread along the banks of the “Benacus”, as Lake Garda was called at that time. From the 6th century onwards, various groups of Goths and Lombards settled on the “Veronese side” (i.e. east side) and on the slopes of Monte Baldo. Towards the end of the 9th century, the Franks invaded this area.

The Legend of the Cross: Once upon a time there was a very aggressive wolf who lived on the Rocca di Manerba. The wolf was terrifying and no one dared come near him. Countless attempts have been made to capture the wolf but all in vain. At one point a price was put on the wolf's head. At that time, the people subsisted on agriculture and sheep breeding, so news of the financial reward for the capture of the wolf soon spread across the area. Three young men from Moniga, Raffa and Pieve Vecchia, were willing to take up the challenge. The first two brave men tried to catch the wolf with live bait and then with a large fishing net, but in both cases the enemy caught them. The two young men were driven off the cliff and fell into the water of the lake. At that point, two huge rocks rise out of the water, commemorating the sacrifice of the two challengers. The third candidate, a young farmer from the nearby village of Pieve Vecchia, took courage and climbed to the top of the cliff where the wolf inhabited a den overlooking the lake. During the ensuing fight, the young man protected himself with a large cross that he used as a shield. This cross is said to have scared the wolf so much that it kept recoiling until it fell off the cliff too and died. Today there is a large cross on the top (which is very nicely lit at night), in honor of that young man from Pieve Vecchia who gave the beautiful promontory back to the people of Manerba.
