Arrival in the last village of the valley, the very authentic Beni Boujloul. The village has suffered from climate change and its extreme isolation, though also kept a traditional adobe architecture and no concrete has polluted the traditional way of building. We are received in the most authentic way possible, sleeping in the house of Hassan and his brother, directly over the goats and sheep. No official accommodations in Ait Bou Hassan, a very welcoming small village. At the time of writing, the dam was about to be finished which will flood the village in the next few years. Check along the route with the local population. The next village is Berkine, the administrative centre of the community, 20 km further. Very cosy family run gîte with three generations under the same roof. Located straight on the road coming from Taza, outside the village of Al Ansar. Very clean and nicely decorated rooms with an inviting terrace covered with wine plants to enjoy the Berber tea in the shade. Really good asphalt, even quite smooth and not as rough as usual on secondary routes (2024). I only drove the southern part, but as far as I could see north, it continued the same way. Unfortunately I didn't have the time to drive through to the end and turn around, I avoid the national roads as much as possible, so the RN8 was out of the question for me to drive back to Azrou. In the north and south I have also described the roads to the east.

In the northeast there is still good asphalt with little damage, in the southwest it gets worse but everything is still drivable. The dogs around here are annoying because they actually run up to the bike and don't just bark from a distance as usual. So stop several times so that the dogs run away and don't snap and get the calf. The landscape is spectacular, the route is one of my top 100 in all of Europe and Morocco. See pictures.
