It was born as a tourist resort linked to the municipality of Lesina. Marina di Lesina is located within the Gargano National Park. Here is Lake Lesina, separated from the sea by a strip of land known as Bosco Isola. From Marina di Lesina you can reach the Tremiti Islands.

Lake Lesina is a brackish lake basin located in the north of Puglia, between the Tavoliere delle Puglie and the Gargano promontory. About 22 km long and 2.4 km wide on average, it has an area of 51.4 km². It is the 9th Italian lake and the second in southern Italy.
