Here you are first at the Rheinspitz (via Rheinholz). In front of it lies a small island, and there are often enormous numbers of water birds here, such as swans and ducks, etc.

Standing on the bank of the Old Rhine on the edge of the Rheinholz Forest you can spot a wealth of different bird species. Colonies land on the islands to breed. An informamtion board will help you identify the different species.

Head to Rheinholz, near Altenrhein, for a peaceful cycling experience where forest trails meet the shores of Lake Constance. Here you’ll find a mix of wooded paths and open views of the lake, making it a great place to cycle or simply relax by the water.

The Rhine Delta is a characteristic marsh landscape. The area includes the mouth of the Rhine into Lake Constance, the largest freshwater delta in Europe. The Old Rhine forms the western border, and the area is bordered in the east by the Dornbirner Ache.

The Rhine delta of Lake Constance is the river delta on the south-eastern shore of Lake Constance, which the Rhine formed in a former lake area. It lies mostly in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg, with smaller areas lying in the Swiss canton of St. Gallen. There is a tennis club on the Polderdamm in Fussach. A young couple runs a small restaurant there, the Kostbar. Highly recommended and right on the bike path.
