A ski jump once stood here. Opened in the early 1930s, the "Hessenschanze" was a major tourist attraction. The best jump was 27 meters.

Nice little hut. Seating for 4-6 people. Guest book to sign and a candy box that is regularly refilled.

Great idea to leave your skis at the hut. The climb to the Hessenturm is challenging but worth it once you get to the top.

Below the Niedensteiner Kopf you pass the former small ski jump with the hut.
