The Liblarer See is one of the cleanest bathing lakes in the region. The origin of today's bathing paradise goes back more than 50 years. At that time, the Liblarer See was a production pit of the Liblar opencast mine, which owned the mining rights for this area. The state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Rhein-Sieg-Erft regional forest office in Bonn (formerly the Bonn Kottenforst-Ville State Forest Office) recultivated this area in cooperation with the Rhineland Nature Park special purpose association.
