This was a really nice shelter. It can't be booked. So getting there early is pretty key to making sure to have a shelter. There are, however, several other shelters and camping areas nearby as backup.

New shelters were set up at Esrum Lake in 2021. Apparently the shelters cannot be booked. First come first serve. All shelters have a bench in front of them and a fireplace and access to the lake. As far as I know, Glas- & Gulålen is the only double shelter on the lake.

This house is run by volunteers and is open to visitors. It boasts a unique location, right on the lake.

The name of the house goes back to a big black brow stallion named Fændrik. This horse had its big time when Christian IV (1577-1648) was king. In the immediate vicinity of the house was a Stuterei.
