Very nice path and also a little quieter and not as crowded as in Riddagshausen.

The extensive pond landscape in Riddagshausen is the result of the work of the Cistercian monks, who drained the then very swampy area and created fish ponds. Of the original 28 ponds, 11 still exist today, of which the Mittelteich and Kreuzteich (between which the excellent path marked here runs) are among the largest. The ponds are home to a rich variety of flora and fauna. On a sunny May day, the 4 of us got totally bitten by mosquitoes. Really bad. So better have Autan etc with you!

In spring, carp, tench and crucian carp are planted in the one-hectare Wiedig pond and removed again after two years. The Wiedig pond is filled in spring and drained in autumn. In the meantime, the fish spend the winter at Fischgut Riddagshausen.

Nice as an "approach lane" on the way back to Braunschweig 👍
