The ascent from Bachalp towards Teugmatte was sometimes quite muddy, but mostly rideable with the E-MTB

The refuge offers a welcome rest area with tables and benches just after the sweaty climb up the steep path and just before the further ascent to the Bella Tola summit. Protected from the wind and with pleasant temperatures, a rest here is definitely recommended - far better than on the drafty summit!

A shelter (mountain hut, shelter, in Switzerland and Tyrol also hospice) serves in undeveloped areas to protect against storms and heavy snowfall. Shelters can be managed or unmanaged.
