When I cycle along the dam, I always come across different water birds. Whether in the water, when crossing the dam path, in flight... And it's always beautiful! On the east side of the Klingnau reservoir, there aren't so many water birds, and therefore fewer or no ornithologists or amateur ornithologists with their huge lenses and tripods. But there are lots of hikers. You come across skaters and joggers, especially when the weather is nice. And there's enough space for everyone here 😉😃!

The 13.4 hectare protected area is located in the east of the Klingnau reservoir. The area is home to the largest oxbow lake in the lower Aaretahl, which has escaped exploration and agricultural use. Extensive reed beds and open water areas characterize the habitat for amphibians, fish and birds.

Swampy area near the Klingnau reservoir, offers space for many animal species. Beavers are at work, many ducks find shelter here, and swans can also be seen. An asphalted cycle path leads you through this beautiful area.
