The Aaschlucht adventure trail is highly recommended! It's really well-designed, well-maintained, and there are several places to stop and barbecue. The trail is especially great in summer, as the forest and water keep it pleasantly cool. However, there are always lots of people out and about then. I think it's really cool that the trail has been expanded for bikers! 💚 About a year ago, it was the same trail as the hikers. But now the trail branches off roughly halfway, so bikers and hikers can use their own paths. Really great!

At the edge of town you will find this pretty bridge. There is also the entrance to the gorge hiking trail. Under a car bridge. I couldn't find the entrance so I went to the left of the road through the mountain meadows (alternative route). You come to the hiking trail at a different point. You then come out again under the car bridge.

Because it's so beautiful, another bridge! It's a joy to walk over it with the roaring water beneath you!

The old path across the stone bridge behind Lake Eugeni was washed away. A short detour under the road bridge now marks the beginning of the Aa Gorge hike.

The floods in 2005 and 2011 destroyed large parts of the hiking trail between Engelberg and Grafenort. In 2007, an interest group was organized under the leadership of district forester Sepp Hurschler with the aim of repairing the badly damaged hiking trail. Today, the adventure trail leads over 7 bridges, 3 of which are suspension bridges.

Along the roaring Aa, the path leads along the typical gorge paths through a lot of healthy forest.

The Rotzloch is a small patch of shore (437 m above sea level) between the Rotzberg (672 m above sea level) with the Rotzberg castle ruins and the Alpnachersee (436 m above sea level). The village and the industrial area are separated by the Mehlbach, which forms the municipal border between Ennetmoos and Stansstad up to the middle of the Rotzschlucht. Originally, the Mehlbach, which rushes down the Rotzschlucht, probably created a delta here.
