Entry to Popokvil Waterfall costs 2000 riel (just under 50 cents) per person. You can exchange the ticket for a small bottle of water. During the dry season, the waterfall carries very little water. However, it's still worth the detour if you're already in the area. The entrance fee is negligible.

On February 27, 2010, Neak Oknha SOK Kong, chairman of the Sokimex Investment Group, commissioned the construction of the world's largest outdoor statue of Lok Yeay Mao in Bokor National Park. The cement Buddha was completed on May 3, 2012. The 29-meter-high statue stands atop the mountain (1,075 meters) and offers breathtaking views of the coastline. It is considered the guardian of the coast.

12월 28, 2025, Nationalstraße 57 Richtung Tonlé-Sap-See
National Route 57 leads, shortly after crossing the border, through the northern foothills of the Cardamom Mountains to the south (a vast, still largely intact jungle area with wild elephants and tigers, stretching all the way down to the Gulf of Thailand, which Heiner and I had crossed a few years earlier in the far south). The road then descends steadily on a good track into the large basin containing the enormous Tonle Sap Lake. Along the way, we encountered agricultural vehicles of the most primitive kind, similar to those in Cuba.

The waterfall is in the other direction from the church and the hotel. The entrance fee is $5 and you get a 0.5l bottle of water in the restaurant. It is a 5 minute walk from the parking lot to the waterfall. In summer this waterfall hardly has any water, so it doesn't make sense to go there. Very beautiful, untouched nature.

The Catholic Church on the top of Bokor Mountain was built by the French in the 1920s. It is one of the few churches left in Cambodia – many were destroyed during the Khmer Rouge rule. This church itself has a dark history. There was once an anti-aircraft gun on the hill directly above the church – a strategic point on the highest mountain in the area. The Khmer Rouge defended Bokor and used the church as a troop barracks. The church served as a bunker, with a hole in the wall so the defenders could shoot anyone approaching from the road. The church was later abandoned again and is now one of the few remaining French colonial buildings on Bokor Mountain that has not been demolished or renovated. It is nothing more than a shell housing a few old religious idols. It has an eerie atmosphere, but is a must-see on your Bokor Mountain climb

This old hotel is worth a look. It is still in operation. Unfortunately, there is no possibility to go inside. But it is so beautifully situated in the countryside that it is an absolute dream.

Very big buddha statue in a place with great view You can also get drinks along the way The climb is continuous, but the incline is rarely extreme. The path is easy to drive on, but you can also make good detours in between.
