Great view and very beautiful Jura meadows

A great hut for spotting turtles, theoretically. Unfortunately, the view is pretty much obscured by bushes, and the pond offers almost no old trunks or anything else for turtles to climb on. The chances of seeing one here are currently very slim. The picture of the turtle in my gallery is a photo taken from the one hanging on the wall here :-)

A lovely place to linger. After a hike, mountain biking, or just for fun... The Métairie's culinary offerings are also a delight!

This viewpoint offers a breathtaking panorama of the Swiss Plateau and the Alps, as well as a glimpse of the Chasseral regional park. You can start your run from the village of Villiers and follow the path to La Dame, a rocky peak which dominates the valley. From there you can continue to the Métairie de Chuffort, a traditional farm which serves local specialties such as cheese fondue, rösti and salads. You can enjoy a relaxing break and refuel if necessary during your run.

The Métairie de L'Isle offers the opportunity to eat very well and cheaply with very friendly service - if you don't prefer to throw in your backpack - and to pause for a moment. It's worth it, apart from the break, if only for the view. Not at all...even if - as is usually the case - it looks rather less inviting; the small march behind the building is definitely worth it. However, be careful, depending on the season, the security fences are dismantled and if you want to dare the view, you should have good shoes and be free from giddiness! The view across the Le Ruz Chasseran gorge to Le Rumont on the other side is sensational! The Alps on the other side of the building...well, worth seeing again and again, of course, but you've seen it once. The highlight is definitely on the northwest side!

The landscape is varied and initially open, then a longer stretch of forest, before finally going back through more open terrain - lined with endless greenery and trees - where you can either leave the narrow, passable road or (if that is the goal, as in my case) rest at the mountain restaurant after the exertion, get some food and enjoy the peace and quiet. Of course, this is only possible if you don't mind the birdsong, the ringing of the cowbells of the free-roaming cows and the grunting of the "wild" pigs. Oh yes, if you are immune to the "growling" of the cat(s), you are also in the wrong place here! https://www.facebook.com/people/M%C3%A9tairie-La-Grande-Maison/100068292957164/
