These large letters spelling out the initials of Mexico City are an ideal spot on Chapultepec Lake to take a nice photo of your visit to the city and one of its main parks.

A beautiful spot with a viewpoint overlooking the Sleeping Woman, perfect for a break or a quick snack before heading to Teyotl.

demanding but recommendable

A small dam that connects with others along the wide trail of the Desierto de los Leones, a classic for mountain biking and hiking. The color of the water is stunning; it only becomes turbulent during the rainy season. Keep in mind that there are no supplies here, but it's close to the quesadilla stand where you can eat and say hello to Pato.

Park with lake in the city

Among the highest peaks in the region, this long-extinct volcano Nevado de Toluca (also known as Xinantécatl) is Mexico’s fourth-tallest peak. Nevado has two summits on the crater rim, each worth hiking for magnificent views across two snow-fringed crater lakes – Sol and Luna. The views from here to del sol is super good!

The Xochimilco Ecological Park is a park of some ​165 hectares and covering much the canals and chinampa system for which Xochimilco is famous. Aquatic humid areas are largely built up with the agricultural chinampas. The park also has a good deal of temperate forest land. Agricultural land is used for the growing of vegetables, ornamental plants, hollows, pines and eucalyptus trees. Wildlife includes birds, insects, rodents, snakes and rabbits. The park also provides an important point for migratory birds. Most 'trajinera trips' from the boat launch at Xochimilco Ecological Park have an environmental and natural slant to them but the place is extremely busy with the food vendors and musicians who accompany the traditional canal tours. Be careful of overcharging fees in regard for food and drink. It is a great trip however and just enjoy....
