On the road at Glencolumbkille is the old Cashelnagore railway station with distinctive white stone pillars lining the road. This is the main setting of the 1992 film "The Railway Station Man", which is set in the dark IRA era.

The road passes right in front of Assaranca Waterfall, which after heavy rain is a truly spectacular torrent. There is a small car park at its base so you can pull in to marvel more closely at the natural wonder.

An 8km stretch of the old railway has been converted into a traffic free walking and cycling way. The views of Muckish Mountain are fantastic and there are old stone railway bridges along the way. Listen very carefully as you walk near Fiddler's Bridge as there is a waterfall nearby.
