Cinco Reis River Beach is an oasis in the Alentejo region, located about 8 kilometers from Beja, on the reservoir of the same name. It's known for its clear, warm water, extensive sandy beach, and unique natural landscapes, making it a popular spot to relax and enjoy the Alentejo sun. 👍🥾🚲🏊

The dam takes its name from the nearby village of Alqueva. This dam was a project dating back to the time of dictator Salazar. It was completed 50 years later. The dam was primarily built to promote agriculture rather than electricity production. Indeed, the region was severely lacking the water needed for agricultural production. The result was the largest artificial lake in Europe in an extremely dry region. The village of Luz was submerged and rebuilt identically.

The old, abandoned copper mines resemble a lunar landscape: a strange and fascinating stage, illuminated by the reflections of copper-hued lakes. A road cuts through the landscape, guiding you along dirt roads. Streams and wells glow in unlikely colors, from copper to green to deep black. Signs warn of the dangers of the water, but nothing prevents your gaze from losing itself in the dramatic and unsettling beauty of the place.

Located 7 km from Beja, Cinco Reis River Beach features a large sandy beach lapped by the waters of the Alqueva Reservoir. The bathing area is easily accessible to all (well, it's a few kilometers off-road from Beja) and is very popular. It has complete infrastructure and equipment for various sports, such as canoeing, sailing, and stand-up paddleboarding. The extensive forest surrounding the river beach offers hiking and cycling trails, as well as two well-camouflaged birdwatching stations. There's also a small bar.

Located in the tranquil setting of the Barragem da Tapada Grande reservoir, this river beach of the same name is a very pleasant recreational area with a sandy beach, lawns, and comprehensive infrastructure. Nearby is the village of Minas de São Domingos, which was developed in connection with the now-defunct mining operations.

Built on the bed of the Odivelas river and located near the village of the same name, the Odivelas dam is one of the largest dams in the Baixo Alentejo. Approximately 5 km long, 3 km wide, and with a flooded area of approximately 970 ha, the Odivelas reservoir is an important gathering point for a variety of aquatic birds. Here you can fish for bass, practice water sports or simply relax and enjoy a light meal in the picnic area in the leisure area.

The Odivelas Dam was the first Zagope project work, it is located in Baixo Alentejo, in the municipality of Ferreira do Alentejo, in Portugal. It was built on the riverbed of Odivelas River and came into operation in 1972. The water stored in the dam is mainly used for irrigation. The dam is 48 meters high and has a capacity of 96 million m³.

The Mira River is the soul of this region, feeding it through an ingenious system of canals that distribute its water throughout the landscape. Despite being shaped by human hands, the reservoir of the Santa Clara dam dazzles with its natural beauty. From the top of the enormous dam wall, the view over this immense lake is breathtaking, and, on the banks, the river beach, one of the best in the Alentejo, invites you to take a refreshing dip.
