High up and the best view

Unfortunately, the hut was not open when I was there (end of May), but there were great paths and views over the sea and the islands... I saw an oriole and was delighted! Not very busy!

Inspired by the Aljaž Tower on the summit of Triglav, Slovenia's highest peak, Vickov stup is a characterful mountaineering shelter. High on the Mount Mosor ridge, it provides refuge for hikers and mountaineers in times of need. It was officially opened in 1952 and named after the Split-born revolutionary Vicko Krstulović.

As is so often the case with mountain huts, Dom Umberto Girometta is named after the local mountaineering club member who was most instrumental in the establishment's constrcution. It's situated in gorgeous woodland above the karst Ljuvač valley and offers services to those exploring Mount Mosor. The hut has enough beds to sleep 50 people.

It is being converted into a hotel that has been taken under concession, a small part will remain for the needs of the Mountain Lodge

An excellent place to spend the night and enjoy the morning and evening panoramas in all directions
