My family and I passed through there on our hike "Svarte Mosse – Björkö's Highest Point with Picnic Bench Loop from Björkö" on August 5, 2025. We all enjoyed the hike.

The highest point on South-Koster.

The Getryggen, which means "goat's back" in Swedish, is a long, narrow and rocky ridge. The panoramic views over Gothenburg and the Delsjö lakes from the summit are well worth the climb.

It's a short, steep climb, but it's worth it. Sturdy footwear is recommended, as the first part of the scree field is a bit shaky in places.

Beautiful view over the island. Even North Koster seems close enough to touch.

A beautiful summit with a slightly less impressive view than Ramnefjell. The climb is relatively easy, as it's almost the entire way up via a wooden staircase. Halfway up the wooden staircase is a rest area with a view of the church. Up there, everything is very spacious, and since the summit is quite wide, you don't really get a good view. There are two rest areas at the summit and a wooden platform with a distance marker in the middle, which is quite interesting to look over.

We parked the stroller in front of the scree field and continued on without it. After the scree field, there's a narrow path. There's an aging willow ladder in the forest. You'll need to be careful here if you're ever out with four-legged friends; our dog (55 kg, Swiss Mountain Dog) had a bit of trouble with the narrow steps. At the top of the summit, it's practically impossible to get lost, but two signposts are a bit far apart, so we got a bit off track. But once you reach the summit, it's worth it. You shouldn't miss it. A beautiful panoramic view of the nature reserve and the surrounding small islands.

Valfjäll is the highest peak in South Koster and offers fantastic views over the two Koster Islands and Kosterhavet National Park. The climb, with its stairs, is somewhat more pleasant than the one to Ramnefjäll, and there are benches at the "summit" for a rest or a breather. The short detour/climb is worth it!
