This circular walk is 8.5 hours, not 5 hours as noted in this guide. 4-6 hours from Grey's road car park to summit lookout. 4 hours back.

It's a good climb to the summit from Link Rd with lots of stairs and in places the track has washed away.

The hiking trail from Te Toto George takes about 3.5 hours and is quite adventurous: narrow, steep, sometimes muddy and slippery. It also includes short climbing sections. We were told that it is quicker and more comfortable from the other end.

Unfortunately, there is hardly any view from the Trig because of the vegetation. However, there is a secondary peak from which the view is fantastic. However, the path is very strenuous.
