Well maintained park with beautiful sunset and lots of dogs. This is the real New Zealand vibe. Lots of open space for walking, running, socializing and exercising. Clean, wide paths and bridges. Playground for the kids, view of the harbor and the dogs love swimming in the lagoon. Lots of other dogs with friendly owners, plenty of parking. It's lovely here, enjoy the morning and evening walks. Wheelchair accessible!

Beveridge Track and Exhibition Drive are always best ridden early mornings or weekdays where there is less foot traffic.

Mackies Rest is always best on a day with clear skies where you get the good view. It's located on Exhibition drive where the Beveridge Track begins.

A volcanic caldera, clear, clean water, stocked with trout (a license is needed to fish in fresh water in NZ), great for swimming, kayaking, rowing, sailing, anything without a motor... The lake discharges out through the rock in a couple of small bays between Takapuna and Milford beach.

This is a lake behind a huge set of sand dunes. Go there and have a look. It is a sandy track that is most easily accessed by foot. This area has featured in cult classics such as Xena, Warrior Princess, Hercules and more lately Hunt for the Wilder People.
