Very beautiful gorge that you wouldn't expect to find so close to the city.

I have walked it many times, the best thing is to walk the entire Katharinenweg. It starts at the Katharinenturm and runs up the Finstertal, along the Alps, Kleinshöhe, to the Robert Heil Turm, Kneipp Becken, Hamburger Hütte, down to the Kurpark and back to the starting point at the Katharinenturm.

There are numerous small fairy dwellings hidden along the side of the path. Lovingly designed, they embellish the hiking tours through Wildecker Valley. A welcome change, especially for children.
