The hemp lake is silting up more and more and today no longer has any free water surfaces. So the bog is gradually disappearing.

Very idyllic small pond. Waterfowl are often seen. A small bank invites you to rest.

The reservoir offers a wonderful, relaxing view over the water. A barbecue area, shelters, benches and numerous "feed troughs" offer space for resting, gathering strength and enjoying nature. From time to time an angler, many birds, even gray herons can be observed.

The Sonder forest area has been a nature reserve since 1961 and, together with the neighboring forest areas on Oberholz and Großer Horn, is part of the European NATURA 2000 system of protected areas. The core of the area is the hemp lake, which was created by leaching rock salts in the geological subsoil. It is the largest of what were previously six sinkholes of this type. These sinkholes filled with water over a long period of time, creating lakes with no natural inflow and outflow, so they were fed solely by rainwater. There is a small witch's house right next door 🏚️

A beautiful little park was created here, the heart of which are the ponds. This piece of earth is the only place to take a break after a good mountain bike tour over the Dün. There is no proper seating, partly covered, some trees for the shade and the view over the ponds are nice reasons to stay here. Once a year there is a big pond festival with lots of great activities, such as fishing for everyone.

The Hanfsee is located in the Große Sonder forest area. Unfortunately, the paths are very overgrown.
